OOTD: Paisley Pop

My mother was in town visiting this weekend, which was awesome. I don't realize how much I miss my mom being around until she is here. On Saturday night, we went out to dinner and I thought you might want to see my fancy-shmancy new dress. I have already wore it twice and it is Tuesday.

My favorite part is that it is a dress within a dress: there is a navy under dress that has the sheer paisley print over the top. I'm a big fan of the maxi - they just flow into the wind! #geek

The teal braided hobo bag I purchased this fall but I liked the teal contrast with the multitude of blues, khakis and reds in the print.

Hope you guys had a great weekend. I know I did.

Yours xx

Sorry Not Sorry: Pantene Ad

Sorry, not sorry, this post is going to happen.

A recent study published in the journal Psychological Science has identified this verbal tick as a female habit. The researchers found that women apologize more than men because guys have a higher threshold for what warrants “wrongdoing” and are more likely to report an offense as more severe than their male counterparts would, leading them to apologize more frequently.

Wrongdoing warrants an apology. Asking a question, needing to speak to someone, keeping your armrest are not "wrongdoings." Then why, women of the universe, do we feel the incessant need to apologize for challenging a peer, needing assistance, and taking up space that we've rightfully earned?? Stop word-vomiting sorry - Use words to display your power, not cower into oblivion. CAN I GET A "YOU GO GIRL!"

Thank you Pantene for your commercial inspiring women to be strong and shine!

June Sephora Haul

Once I hit my VIB Rouge status  - a fancy way of saying that I spend too much of my hard earned money on cosmetic - I got a free shipping and 10% off coupon for an online Sephora purchase. I have an overflowing online shopping cart of items that I am wishing for and I thought it perfect splurge moment.

It arrived timely and packaged well. My suggestion would've been that it had the fun red tissue paper as packaging. (Just a suggestion...) :D

Got several samples I was allowed to choose. I am enjoying my facial cleanser from fresh so I wanted to try their eye concentrate and their "life eau de parfum." I got an additional Becca bronzing mousse that I may or may not (read: may not) use.

I smelled this in store during my last trip. It is perfect for summer -- like a margarita with a twist. I enjoy my other Soap and Glory body products and am anticipating that this will be no different.

How adorable?? Mini nail polishes in an adorable beach house packaging! This arrived in a great time because I am currently in between polish choices and now I've got 5 more!

I've been reading a lot about the NARS satin lip pencils and wanted to give one a go. While I love a lip color that is bright, I wanted a rose color. Therefore, I went with Rikugien.

I have a bit of a girl crush on Alexa Chung. After seeing these in action from a Lisa Eldridge makeup tutorial, I just had to get my hands on them! Plus, being that sucker for packaging, I couldn't resist a true tube of mascara. The midnight blue will be interesting... while I don't think you will be able to see the color, it will sure make me feel sneaky. The curved wand is going to make my lashes curved and voluminous.

Well, that's where is ends. I hope you all enjoyed! What is your Sephora shopping cart look like?

PopSugar Unboxing: June 2014 Box

I love it when the postman arrives, especially when he brings my PopSugar box along with him! Here's what was brought into my life this month...

Turkish T Beach Towel

Basically, a chic cotton beach towel. Trading in that silly old well-loved beach towel for this guy!

Sachajuan Shiny Citrus Body Lotion

Initially I liked the citrus smell of this lotion. It has a weird underscent of jasmine and flowers, which I find to be a bit overpower for what I usually wear. It is incredibly hydrating. I think I might have to use this after a day in the sun.

You Smell Lemon Wet Wipes

Immediately I placed 5 in my hand bag and several are going into my desk at work. They smell terrifically fresh. I'm such a sucker for the cutesy packaging too!

Lollies Basic Hair Ties

Made from the same materials as a swimsuit, these are going to be perfect for sprucing up my summertime ponytail!

One Potato Two Potato Hawaiian BBQ

Barbeque potato kettle chips. I'm not a fan of barbeque flavored things. So, for me, these were okay? Yeah, okay.

Emily Giffin's "The One and Only"

I so very very pumped to receive this book! I was planning on buying this the other day when I was at the store and I was like: "Haley, you don't need another book." But, lookie here, PopSugar thought differently. Such a fan!

Special Extra: Native Union $15 Gift Card

Super pumped to pick out a unique and simple techie treat!

Yet another month and yet another continued subscription to PopSugar Box. It's like Christmas once a month!!

Yours xx

Get Ready With Me: First Edition

Watch me put my face on!

I went from this ...

To this in a matter of 20 minutes.

I'm obsessed with reading Get Ready With Me posts. I'm fascinated by how people put on their makeup to enhance their already perfectly good looks. I thought you guys might want to see how I get ready. (Wait, that made me sound a bit conceded...I guess it is just about positive self thoughts, right?)

The supplies.

I started with my Benefit Porefessional to smooth out my pores before applying my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. I want to be able to see my freckles on my face -- I like them so I don't enjoy covering them up with full coverage foundation. The weather is humid today so I didn't want to have to worry about my "face" slipping and sliding around all day.

The eyes are the window to the soul which to me makes them my favorite part of getting ready. I do a lot of experimenting with my eye shadows. I have been loving this combination for about a month. I used my Too Faced Natural Eyes pallet combining a light white shadow with a light brown in my crease and patted a shimmery gold onto my center lid. Patience is the key to success with liquid liner -- that and SEVERAL Q-tips.

Back to face... As it is summer, I needed to warm up my complexion a bit. Hence, the bronzer, the blush and the highlight. I used the Physician's Formula BB Bronzer on my temples, and upper check. The Clinique Cheek Pop in Ginger Pop I stopped onto my cheeks; and the highlighter onto my brow bone and my cheekbones.

I did not want to put too much emphasis on my lips with the liquid liner so I kept it neutral and glossy. I used BITE Lychee and NYK Butter Gloss in Tiramisu.

Me and this Urban Decay setting spray are best friends. When we talk about my "face" not moving, this is a straight up must have.

And the final look! I hope you guys enjoyed this as much I as did writing it.

Yours xx

Chef Haley: Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

I'm such a chef. When I have the time and creative juices, I enjoy making a good meal for myself. Cooking for one is a challenge because most "meals" are portioned for 4 at the very least, but I have learned that leftovers are just as fun. As I break in my kitchen in my place, I thought I may share some of my mishaps and successes with you.

I was shopping for my groceries earlier this week and saw a new mix-and-match meals section. Pretty convienant for a girl like me -- I thought I would try out my hand at Lime Chili Chicken Fajitas.

Oil is in the pan and warming up.

Add those veggies.

Time for the chicken..

Added the lime juice and Chili Cilantro sauce -- Pro-tip: I did NOT add the entire sauce bag. I just did about a tablespoon.

Mixed it all up and boom - dinner!

I would recommend either with tortilla wraps, salad or on its own. It had a bit of spice and tang and I really enjoyed it. I can't wait to try another mix-and-match meal.

Taking on the Urban Jungle

Out of all the typical summertime colors, I chose a tan color. Wait, what? Yeah, a tan color. This is Urban Jungle by Essie. It is a part of their new summer collection and my favorite of the bunch. It is a light tan, very reminiscent of the color of sand. While light tan, it does have some pink undertones -- similar to the pink of Ballet Slippers by Essie. I love me some tan nails -- I have a dark tan color that I adore during fall and now I've got a summer tan. I can already tell that I'm going to be painting and repainting my nails all summer in this shade.

OOTD: The Beginning of Summer

It was 6 o'clock on a Thursday. It was dinner time. A friend and I went to Luciano's, an Italian restaurant downtown. It finally feels like summertime around here so I wanted to bring out the maxi dresses and denim jacket. My jacket was an investment piece from the Gap I purchased last year. I wear it about once a week during the summer time. One of the best purchases
I have ever made. The dress I purchased last year at the start of my big girl job, which 3 weeks ago I hit my 1 year anniversary -- super cool, totally adult. And the nude flats, well, they killed my feet so you don't want to know.

Laughing trying to dodge the wind and fix my hair. Yeah, typical me.

Yours xx
