Essie Fall Collection (In MINI!)

In a recent trip to Ultra I found this adorable kit of 4 Essie polishes. They are all from their new fall collection and miniature sizes. First, what a brilliant idea by Essie. Not only do I get 4 new polishes, but I get 4 from the new collection and in mini size. For a nail polish addict, this is great. I will now spend my time (and money) on these 4 set collections.

Second, what an array of perfect fall colors. They is a gray, a red (almost burgundy), a navy blue and a brown. I didn't think I would wear the brown at all, but I like it in an alternative to black for fall. You all know I'm a lover of gray and red polish. The blue is a bit of out of my nail color pallet but, is very pretty for a little something different.

I only used 1 coat and the color is not opaque at all! One coat, top coat and you are done. Very great for quick color changes that I tend to do. Just another great collection from Essie -- what more can you say!

June Favorites

June quite literally flew by. I know everyone says that but, seriously, I completely forgot about the month of June. So many things have changed throughout the month of June but, the following things have been constant go-to grabs in my month of crazy.

Not You Mother's Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray
I live no where near a beach. In order to get some sort of texture into my otherwise straight and shiny hair, I need to add a little something. This guy has been a staple in my hair care regime for about a year now, and I finally thought I should probably let you in on my texturizing secret. I spray my hair before blow drying, scrunch it up a bit, and voilĂ ! Done. Oh, it also smells like vanilla.

Bumble and Bumble bb Pret-a-powder
At then end of may, I ran out of my beloved dry shampoo. Instead of picking up another bottle, I wanted to try a little something new. I have been using this on my second day hair to absorb the oils and what not, but also on fresh hair to add a little extra volume. The white powder does disappear once rubbed into the roots, but can get everywhere in application (the only downside).

Still Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner
Ah, that coveted flick. This eye liner pen stays and doesn't get that awful eye lid line. I suffer from oily eye lids and eye liner tends to gather in my crease. #frustruationnation I get that coveted flick, all day long, with not trouble at all.

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer
Summer time is here and foundation will just not do. Enter the Tinted Moisturizer. I got this as a sample size and cannot seem to go a day without it. It smooth out my skin tone as well as add a good bit of moisturizer so that my skin doesn't get dry throughout the day.

Essie All in One & Nicole by OPI Drying Drops
I have painted my nails sooooo many times this month -- I get a chip, repaint, chip, repaint, repeat. These two things have saved my dear nails from pain. The all in one is a great base coat and a glossy top coat. The Drying Drops allow that 30 minutes of disabled hands to blow away with the wind. 60 seconds or less after painting and bam, I'm in action.

Steripod
Yes, that is my toothbrush. That clip on the top there? Brilliant. Protecting my tooth brush from germs, gunk, and all other things that prowl about my bathroom. Just thought I'd say that this deal is an very cool invention and I wish I had invented it.

House of Cards
I know I'm a bit late to this bad wagon but, geeeeeeeze, it is sooooo good. Soooo good. All about political power and flexing the muscles of who is really in control. Frank Underwood, played brilliantly by the creepy, intelligent, Kevin Spacey, is a southern democratic House whip initiates this elaborate plan to get himself into power... (Spoiler Alert: He succeeds.)

Ed Sheeran's "X"
If you haven't heard this whole thing yet, we can't be friends. Stop reading this and DOWNLOAD!
Thanks. :D

Makeup MAYhem: Sunday Funday

If you are a college student, this title means an entirely different thing that it is actually about... Sorry for being misleading, y'all.

Yesterday, I slept about 14 hours and did the same thing today. My body has gone into full recovery mode and I approve. Cheers, to being done with this sickness! *raises cup of tea*

I did a bit of shopping yesterday. (Damn you Sephora.) I did NEED that new lipstick. I wanted a fancy matte red color so I did oodles and oodles of testing on the back of my hand, which out of context of a  Sephora looked a bit odd. I did find a color... well, several, that I really loved.

Lip selfie in Sephora Lip Cream stain in 003 Strawberry Kiss

Actual selfie in BITE Corvina

I went with a Sephora owned lip product: Cream Lip Stain in the color 003 Strawberry Kiss. I never thought I'd buy a Sephora brand makeup with all the choices but I do love the matte red look of it. I also discovered a new lip product brand: BITE. They make all organic lip products; their matte gray packaging was BEGGING me to purchase. I was debating between my purchased lip pencil and the NARS lip pencil. I ended up choosing the BITE one because of the moisturizing effect and lasting color power it had on my hand. I was already getting a red, so I went with a coral pink called Corvina. I'm obsessed.

Now a girl has got to wear something cute to do a bit of shopping. I spend my nights pinning outfit ideas and a couple of days ago I stumbled across a pin that I couldn't help but recreate for myself. I recently purchased a pair of boyfriend crop jeans for $6 (They are a bit too big but a wash and dry has changed that!). These jeans paired with my striped Gap shirt, camel flats and Fossil bag was a great outfit to do a bit of shopping.

The nail polish... which I have since lost in the depths of my apartment..is Essie's Style Hunter. The lipstick I wore was L'Oreal Paris Collection Privee by JLo. It is an all nude collection with colors tailored to celebrity's choices for nudes. I went with JLo because if you wanna look like anyone, it is obviously JLo.

Happy Sunday, y'all. Have a great kick off to your week!

Makeup MAYhem: Is the accent nail still a thing?

I sure hope so because I just couldn't decide what color to paint my nails. I am an in serious need of summer. I haven't ever seen the ocean (flying over it doesn't count) and these two colors reminded me of that ideal ocean color. The accent nail is Essie's "Lapiz of Luxury" and the others are Essie's "Mint Candy Apple."

I'm still trying to perfect the at-home manicure. It is almost sad to watch me try and paint my right hand with my left hand. You'd think I had never used my left hand for anything... ever. But I have found a solution for the crippling drying process: OPI's Drying Drops. I wait a minute after applying my final coat, drop 2-3 drops onto each nail and in less than 5 minutes they are DRY! And I mean, you can do arts and crafts dry.

I still struggle with the (almost) immediate chipping process. Anyone have any suggestions? Any at-home manicure tips and tricks that you are generous enough to share?

I'm starting "Gone Girl" today. I have heard awesome reviews!

I ♥ Spring Tag!

In a last ditch effort to combat winter creeping in on our spring time, I've decided to complete the I (heart) Spring Tag. I found this tag from my favorite YouTuber, Ingrid or MissGlamorazzi! I've linked her video below; check it out! Also, let me know what your Spring Favorites are in the comments!

1. What is your favorite spring nail polish?
Pick one? Not happening. Whoops. I just couldn't decide. My favorite part about nail polish for spring is that there are so many colors!! I've brought back a February favorite "Play date" from essie. It is a lovely lavender color. Sometimes I enjoy keeping my nails neutral (too many sparkles can be distracting for me.
Hehe!). My neutral nail is a subtle pink from essie called "Mademoiselle." I like to do 2-3 coats to make the color richer. And my newest nail polish purchase has quickly made its way onto my spring list: "Jaded" by Revlon. Not only does it dry super fast, but the color is just perfect. I'm obsessed with mint this season!!

2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?
My lip color changes daily. I love a sweet neutral lip but, I've been obsessed with Revlon Lip Butters and especially, "Wild Watermelon." It moisturizes as well as adds significant color but doesn't overwhelm.  Plus, it looks exactly like watermelon pink-ish red. Amazing for spring and summer!

My other must-have lip color is a jumbo gloss balm lip perfection from CoverGirl; it is number 215 "Watermelon Twist". At first, I felt like I was color my lips with those giant crayons from elementary school, but I've come to love the sheer color. It is more pink than red so I prefer it for an everyday look.

3. What is your favorite spring dress?
My spring dress favorite is a navy neutral dress, It is a great shift dress that can be dressed up or casually to spend the day at the mall with friends. I can't wait to add a scarf or a necklace; even I'd add a white jacket
and wear it during those chilly spring (or summer) evening.

Side note: How about my vintage blogging chair?! I love it so much!

4. What is your favorite flower?
My favorite flower is a Gerbera daisy! They are big, bright and beautiful!

5. What is your favorite spring scarf or accessory?
Okay, let's have a serious conversation here. I love scarves. Like I'm obsessed.  I think, at last count, I have somewhere around 40 or so? Yeah, too many I know. I wear one almost everyday. So, I selected two! One is an infinity scarf with an orange and purple floral pattern along the edge, which was a gift. The other, from Target, is a straight scarf with a pink, orange, turquoise print.

6. What spring trends are you most excited about this year (makeup/fashion/both)?
For makeup, I'm really excited about the natural look with rosy cheeks and big lashes for everyday. Plus, to spice it up, adding the bold lip! For fashion, I'm excited about the mod prints, especially black and white. Also, mint and peach? Yeah, I approve. I think I need to get some new bold sunglasses!

7. What is your favorite spring candle?
My first favorite is Market Peach. I feel like everyone is talking about this candle, which, obviously, I approve! The second candle is a new summer scent "Limoncello." The bottom of this candle can describe it so much better than I can: "Cheers! Notes of Sorrento lemons, cane sugar and a hint of lemon zest capture Italy's beloved after-dinner liqueur, Limoncello." It smells like a lemon tart which is AWESOME!

8. What is your favorite body spray/perfume for spring?
I'm going with my traditional Bath and Body Works "White Citrus" scent! It is a crisp, citrus, almost lemon-y, scent with hints of grapefruit. It just smells clean; very spring! And BBW just came out with a new scent!! I got it in the Body Cream when they were having their $5 Body Cream sale. It smells likes apples and flowers which is an ideal spring day! I think I've got to go back and pick up more!

9. What is spring like where you live?
South Dakota spring...well, erm, 50 degrees and sunny one day or two days then, 19 degrees, freezing rain and snow. Yeah, that's pretty much spring in SD. Those sunny days are really appreciated.

10. What is your favorite thing about spring?
Those sunny days! The green grass! The birds beginning to chirp! The potholes?

11. Are you a spring cleaner?
Yes! Absolutely! See?

12. Any plans for a spring break or spring vacation?
My spring plan: Graduate from college! Weeee!!

February Favorites

I'm a curious little bee. I want to know what everyone is loving whether it be beauty products, body care, books, or even movies. Inspired by my curiosity I thought I might jump on the monthly favorites bandwagon. (Yes, there is a bandwagon.) I figured I'd share with all of you, at the beginning of each month, what I consider to be my favorite things. So without further ado...cue music.

Beauty Products & Body Care Favorites:

I've been loving my Maybelline Baby Lips in Coral Crush and Pink Punch. It is super moisturizing as well as adding a hint of color to my lips. It is a perfect every day basic balm.

My February Favorite as far as nail polish goes has to be Play Date from Essie. It is a lavender color so it is very spring time and very Easter appropriate. Plus, for me, Essie color always seems to last quite a long time on my nails.

Body Care Favorites consist of a hand cream that I've been loving for quite sometime. The True Blue Spa Shea Cashmere and Silk Hand Cream is like a dream for my hands. It does exactly what the back of the bottle says (no lies here): "Wrap Your Hands in Cashmere and Silk." Plus, it seems like vanilla!

This next product I picked up on a whim one day: Boots Brazil Nut Body Butter. Now, I'm not usually a big fan of body butter, the idea of thick, cake-y cream just gives me the shivers, but this product is nothing like that! It is very moisturizing, as expected, but doesn't seem like you're "frosting" yourself. My skin has become super soft and smooth since using this. Which has been great during this loving spring SD weather (sarcasm). And this particular scent is a combination of almond-hazelnut-vanilla; it is intoxicating.

Music Favorites:

I have narrowed my choices down to three, which is fairly impressive since I've been obsessed with a lot of music in the past month. (Warning: My musical taste is varied and not for everyone)

Demi Lovato's "Heart Attack". Don't lie you've sang it in your car...

Fall Out Boy "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)" I think I'm a professional air guitar drumming extraordinaire when this songs comes on. Plus, it's Fall Out Boy. You know I'm stoked for their new album.

Bernhoft "C'mon Talk" This one I can't actually take too much credit for. It was introduced to me by a friend. Obsessed doesn't even accurately describe how I feel about this song.

Oh what am I saying...here's one more:

Allen Stone "Sleep"

Book & Movies Favorites

This one of going to be a lengthy one this time due to Spring Break allowing me actual leisure reading time!

If you have yet to read "The Fault in Our Stars" by John Green stop whatever you had planned for today, go get this book, grab the Kleenex and READ IT. Serious. I've read it twice since purchasing it and the second time I took a highlighter to it because I loved it THAT much.

The other recommendation I talked about in the Fashion Friday of last week so check that out here. As far as another read, I'd say "Struck by Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal" by Chris Colfer should not go unnoticed. It reads like you're having a conversation with your snarky, although lovable, best friend.

And finally, whether it comes into your life in book or movie form, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" forever changed everything for me. It is a real, brave and honest look at, not just high school, but friendship, love and being a teenager.

Thanks for reading! Yours xx

PS: Starbucks drink of the month for Haley: Direct tie between Green Tea Frapp and Iced Chai Tea Latte.
