I ♥ Spring Tag!

In a last ditch effort to combat winter creeping in on our spring time, I've decided to complete the I (heart) Spring Tag. I found this tag from my favorite YouTuber, Ingrid or MissGlamorazzi! I've linked her video below; check it out! Also, let me know what your Spring Favorites are in the comments!

1. What is your favorite spring nail polish?
Pick one? Not happening. Whoops. I just couldn't decide. My favorite part about nail polish for spring is that there are so many colors!! I've brought back a February favorite "Play date" from essie. It is a lovely lavender color. Sometimes I enjoy keeping my nails neutral (too many sparkles can be distracting for me.
Hehe!). My neutral nail is a subtle pink from essie called "Mademoiselle." I like to do 2-3 coats to make the color richer. And my newest nail polish purchase has quickly made its way onto my spring list: "Jaded" by Revlon. Not only does it dry super fast, but the color is just perfect. I'm obsessed with mint this season!!

2. What is your must-have lip color this spring?
My lip color changes daily. I love a sweet neutral lip but, I've been obsessed with Revlon Lip Butters and especially, "Wild Watermelon." It moisturizes as well as adds significant color but doesn't overwhelm.  Plus, it looks exactly like watermelon pink-ish red. Amazing for spring and summer!

My other must-have lip color is a jumbo gloss balm lip perfection from CoverGirl; it is number 215 "Watermelon Twist". At first, I felt like I was color my lips with those giant crayons from elementary school, but I've come to love the sheer color. It is more pink than red so I prefer it for an everyday look.

3. What is your favorite spring dress?
My spring dress favorite is a navy neutral dress, It is a great shift dress that can be dressed up or casually to spend the day at the mall with friends. I can't wait to add a scarf or a necklace; even I'd add a white jacket
and wear it during those chilly spring (or summer) evening.

Side note: How about my vintage blogging chair?! I love it so much!

4. What is your favorite flower?
My favorite flower is a Gerbera daisy! They are big, bright and beautiful!

5. What is your favorite spring scarf or accessory?
Okay, let's have a serious conversation here. I love scarves. Like I'm obsessed.  I think, at last count, I have somewhere around 40 or so? Yeah, too many I know. I wear one almost everyday. So, I selected two! One is an infinity scarf with an orange and purple floral pattern along the edge, which was a gift. The other, from Target, is a straight scarf with a pink, orange, turquoise print.

6. What spring trends are you most excited about this year (makeup/fashion/both)?
For makeup, I'm really excited about the natural look with rosy cheeks and big lashes for everyday. Plus, to spice it up, adding the bold lip! For fashion, I'm excited about the mod prints, especially black and white. Also, mint and peach? Yeah, I approve. I think I need to get some new bold sunglasses!

7. What is your favorite spring candle?
My first favorite is Market Peach. I feel like everyone is talking about this candle, which, obviously, I approve! The second candle is a new summer scent "Limoncello." The bottom of this candle can describe it so much better than I can: "Cheers! Notes of Sorrento lemons, cane sugar and a hint of lemon zest capture Italy's beloved after-dinner liqueur, Limoncello." It smells like a lemon tart which is AWESOME!

8. What is your favorite body spray/perfume for spring?
I'm going with my traditional Bath and Body Works "White Citrus" scent! It is a crisp, citrus, almost lemon-y, scent with hints of grapefruit. It just smells clean; very spring! And BBW just came out with a new scent!! I got it in the Body Cream when they were having their $5 Body Cream sale. It smells likes apples and flowers which is an ideal spring day! I think I've got to go back and pick up more!

9. What is spring like where you live?
South Dakota spring...well, erm, 50 degrees and sunny one day or two days then, 19 degrees, freezing rain and snow. Yeah, that's pretty much spring in SD. Those sunny days are really appreciated.

10. What is your favorite thing about spring?
Those sunny days! The green grass! The birds beginning to chirp! The potholes?

11. Are you a spring cleaner?
Yes! Absolutely! See?

12. Any plans for a spring break or spring vacation?
My spring plan: Graduate from college! Weeee!!

A Day for Fashion Lovers

Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

Today is a day dedicated to love, so I'm posting outfits I love (and maybe they would be great if you had plans for tonight??) plus, my interpretation of an outfit I posted last Fashion Friday and obviously, L-O-V-E!

I'm loving this sparkly, champagne boutique dress! I've added teardrop earrings to dress it up, but it can be easily paired with a denim jacket to keep it casual.

Dress: Boutique find
Earrings: Target

I'm obsessed with this print. I did buy this dress during summertime, scored it on clearance (WOO!), but added a denim jackets and gold earrings. I'd call it a hit for any occasion!

Last week for Fashion Friday I posted this picture. I love the all black clothing with a colorful statement scarf. I loved it so much I thought what better way to celebrate Valentine's Day by interpreting an outfit I loved with items I own, and love. WOO, love.

Sooooo, I grabbed my black leather jacket, black skinny jeans, my favorite boots, and my Valentine's scarf. I think it turned out pretty great if you ask me!

Have a great holiday everyone! Happy Valentine's! Oh and don't forget to love yourself today too!

Yours x

Fashion Friday: February 8th, 2013

(FYI So far, every week that I've typed out the year I've typed last year..whoops. Good thing I proofread, ay?)

Happy Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week everyone. NYC is currently suffering through quite the snow storm, which I can relate to because SD is too! Enough with the snow, let's go ahead and kick off our Friday with a bit of inspiration that I have on my wallpaper of my desktop that I read and think about every day as I do that last mirror check before taking on the day.

“Dress how you feel and love what you wear, because at the end of the day you have got to wear and feel great in it. Great style isn't about looking picture perfect all the time. You wear your clothes. Your clothes should never wear you.” --Kelly Osbourne

Along with the quote, I'd like you to check this out. Kelly Osbourne has her own style, regardless of if I like it or consider her my style icon, I am enviable of her ability to identify something that she is particularly inspired by and stick to being herself, no matter the circumstance.

Now, images and videos!

Step one...

Good LBD. Love LOVE the embellishment!

I like the all black with an accent scarf!

I call this "Fox on the Run."

Real fear, people.
Scale of 1-10: How much do I want this shirt? 10. 10. 10!

I'd like to introduce you all to Little Mix. Watch the video below then go download their US single "Wings." Four girls, strong individual styles yet, all complementary of each other.

Oh and Happy Grammy Weekend!

Flashdance: Fashion's Full-Circle

Flashdance: Fashion's Full Circle

I've got this mission for myself to finally watch all the movies that I've placed in my Netflix Instant Queue. It is quite the task. I began my mission with "Flashdance," an 80's film about a dancer, played by Jennifer Beals, who works in a steel mill and has dreams of dancing fame. Though the film is basically a sequence of music videos strung together with an A-typical plot line, I found myself inspired through her sense of style.

The gray raglan sweater worn salaciously off one shoulder, used as both the film poster and in the "first date" scene, has all the appeal of the 80's fashions. It allowed for character definition, which any good fashion in movies I find always does. Would I rock it?....possibly, yes.

However, I was more excited about her masculine choices in casual wear. The over-sized knitwear paired with, what is that like, 5 scarves? Okay, not the 5 scarves but the sweater is definitely Haley-approved.

The red band jacket? Seriously, where do I get one!? The gold buttons and the black detailing on the sleeve are practically as lust worthy as the dancers of Mawby's Bar.

Finally, the military surplus jacket with the patches is an excellent way of defining a female character in a male dominated world, as well as the 80's obsession with combat appliques, also introduced in the red jacket.

In the end, the movie was given a 3-star "Liked it" approve rating on the Netflix scale. But the fashion inspiration from "Flashdance" was greater, much greater, and obviously, not just another fad as most of fashions are still relevant today. My, my, how fashion becomes full circle. Fashion as armor is more than relevant with our girl here. Her character has armed herself with fashion in a world dominated by men, and yet, tearing those men to pieces at the same time. Fashion is power, and, my dearest readers, wield that power to your advantage.

Yours x
Haley
